Embracing Marian Devotion in Daily Life
In 2017, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in Ghana. After undergoing chemotherapy that year, I was blessed to be declared cancer-free in 2018. Fast forward to 2024, I found myself on a new path as a PhD student in the USA, and in February, I discovered that I was pregnant. Joy, however, soon mixed with concern as a routine pregnancy test revealed an abnormality. Given my medical history, further investigations were carried out, and on June 16, 2024, I received devastating news: the cancer had returned, this time in a more aggressive form involving my spine.
The doctors were concerned, especially since I was carrying a child. But by the grace of God, my mother introduced me to the prayer group, and on June 19, I began participating in the prayers. As I underwent chemotherapy during my pregnancy, starting at 24 weeks, I relied on faith, praying the Holy Rosary, the Divine Mercy, and drinking Holy Water daily.
Despite the aggressive treatment, my pregnancy progressed well. After four cycles of chemotherapy, I was induced at 36 weeks and 3 days. By God’s mercy and Mother Mary’s intercession, the delivery on October 8, 2024, was the shortest induction and labor the doctors had ever seen. At 6 pm that day, I delivered a healthy and perfect baby boy, a miracle that left the medical team in awe.
Through it all, the power of prayer carried me. As I continue with two more cycles of chemotherapy, I trust that Mother Mary will continue interceding for my complete healing. I am also grateful to God for leading me through this journey and for the strength to introduce six friends to the prayers, knowing that the Holy Rosary, backed by faith, is truly powerful.
This testimony is a testament to God’s mercy and the intercession of Mother Mary, who continues to guide and protect me.
